~Prayer For You~

Last night I heard a prayer, Pleading for you from a heart, That wanted your pain washed away, Didn't want you to be torn apart. She asked me to make you feel whole again, To take my love and draw near to you. You think that nobody cares, But last night, I heard a prayer for you.

¤ SHINE ¤

I am currently reading the book "SHINE make em wonder what you've got" by the Newsboys.
The book has many interesting stories about their(Newsboys) lives and peoples' lives whom they have met in their many travels around the world. There are many quotes which are really amazing. A few of them are as follows
  • And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know it for the first time. - T. S. Eliot

  • Nothing is wonderful except the abnormal and nothing is a normal until we have grasped the norm. - C. S. Lewis

  • The other gods were strong; but Thou wast weak. They rode, but Thou didnst stumble to a throne; But to our wounds only God can speak, And not a god has wounds but Thou alone. -Edward Shillito

Most of the guys from the group are originally from Australia or New Zealand so they have a

very kewl accent

Newsboys are:

Peter Furler ----->

Phil Joel ----->

<---- Duncan Philips

Jeff Frankenstein ---->

Paul Colman ----->

The book is very encouraging. It makes you think differently on life. The book starts of with different paragraphs on "Christians" and how other people see them. A couple of the paragraphs are as follows

  • A car with a bumper sticker that reads "Christians aren't perfect just
    forgiven," speeds down the highway, cutting someone off. As the other driver
    scrambles for control of her car, she sees the bumper sticker and yells in
    frustration, "Does being forgiven give you license to run me off the road?"
  • Two teenagers meet for lunch. One wears a shirt that announces, "Jesus is the
    reason for the season," and the other a jacket with the words, "Jesus rules."
    Their lunch conversation centers on a latest church gossip. A husband and wife
    seated nearby exchange glances. The wife says, "If that's the way they talk
    about each other, I certainly wouldn't want to go to their church.
  • A demonstrator stands at the fresh grave of a murdered homosexual, holding a sign that says, "He's burning in hell." Relatives and friends, who have come to
    mourn their loved one, stare in shock. "If that's the way God really feels," the
    victim's mother says, "I hate Him!"
All of those people and the other ones I didn't mention that are in the book, think that they are all shining the light of Christ to the world. Makes you think again doesn't it?
I am only part way through the second chapter, but am trying to read a bit of the book every day.

I have had the privilege to go see the Newsboys in concert a couple of years ago at Paramount Canada's Wonderland. Peter Furler gave his testimony. I must say it was amazing how God worked through his life
